Anggur Sultan (the Sultan’s wine) is a drink to serve aristocratic guests of Sri
Sultan Hamengkubuwono VIII. In his reign (1921-1939), The Netherlands that lives
in Yogyakarta enjoys the wine so much. They drink the wine to warm the body
because of the alcohol content. From that drink, the Sultan got an idea to make
another warming drink that is alcohol-free, and just like that they created the
Sultan;s wine. In Java, this drink is known as WEDANG SECANG and in Batavia, it
is known as PLETOK BEER. When you add lime into it, you can enjoy the Sultan’s
beer right away.
